    Calabasas

Chimney and fireplace work across Calabasas

We cover sweeping, inspection and repair across Calabasas, from The Oaks and Calabasas Hills to Mountain View Estates and the Mulholland canyon streets.

Calabasas sits in the hills at the western edge of the valley, surrounded by oak woodland and dry canyons. Much of the housing is gated and custom, large estates through The Oaks, Calabasas Hills and Mountain View Estates, with more homes strung along the Mulholland corridor and out toward Bell Canyon and Old Topanga.

The homes here run from substantial masonry chimneys on the older estates to factory-built prefab fireboxes in the newer tract and hillside builds, so we see both. What they share is the setting, high on the hills and hard against the brush, which is what really drives the work in Calabasas.

Access takes planning. The estates sit behind gates and long drives, and the canyon streets climb and wind. We confirm the gate codes, drive and roof access before the visit rather than sort it at your door.

We hired Chimney Brothers to repair and rebuild two masonry fireplaces, including firebox and smoke chamber work, and we had a great experience overall. Joseph was involved from start to finish and was consistently on site, not just managing from a distance. He took the time to explain what was going on, answered questions clearly, and made sure the work was done right. It was reassuring to see him present and actively involved while the crew was working. The team showed up when they said they would, worked carefully, and didn’t rush through the job. When I had questions or wanted to look at specific areas, Joseph was patient and responsive, and made sure everything we discussed was addressed before wrapping up. The final result looks solid and well done, and the whole process felt transparent and professional. I appreciate the hands-on approach and would feel comfortable recommending Chimney Brothers to anyone who needs serious fireplace or chimney repair.

I had the pleasure of working with Joseph from Chimney Brothers. Great experience overall, we transitioned from wood burning for gas, we had a few cracks which we repaired. They painted our firebox and help us choose an amazing new set! Can’t praise them enough. I really appreciate the good workmanship and the patience Joseph had. I’ll definitely be calling them up when I’m ready to do my other fireplace!!

I just had the chimney Brothers install custom glass doors for me. Absolutely love the result! They also swept the chimney! Communication was great, time line was also pretty quick. Only two weeks for the moment we moved forward. I really enjoyed working with Joseph He was so pleasant and not pushy which I really appreciate. This is your go to Chimney company!

I had the opportunity to work with joseph From Chimney Brothers on one of my rental properties. A previous tenant left the property in a bad condition. I called a couple different companies come out and inspect my fireplace, a few of them seemed fishy. I also checked The chimney brothers license and bond certificates to ensure they didn’t have any ongoing lawsuits or a bad rep with the CSLB. Joseph came and installed for me glass doors, custom gas logs and purged my smoke chamber. The job was done in a very quick and professional manner. They didn’t leave any debris and I was super impressed. I would definitely recommend them!!! If I could give 10 stars I would. Great experience, and I truly found a trustworthy company that I’m sure I’ll use in my next properties.

Chimney services always comes with lots skepticism; it's not a usual services like plumbing, and it's not a necessity. Selecting CB is a right call. Joseph is pleasant to work with; he appears knowledgeable, considerate and delivered as promised. We took his advices and went through major works. The result and process is satisfactory. Highly recommend.

Joseph was awesome. He came out to inspect the chimney on our first home and was on time, friendly and super knowledgeable. He walked us through everything, explained why the chimney needed a cleaning, and pointed out that the galvanized chase cover should be replaced to help prevent future water damage. As first-time homeowners, we really appreciated how informative and thorough he was. He took the time to answer all of our questions and explain everything in a way that was easy to understand. We left feeling much more confident and would definitely recommend Joseph and The Chimney Brothers!

Needed to clean our chimney for our 1 story home which had been neglected for about 13 years. Joseph came and did a efficient evaluation and quote for not just a cleaning but also for resurfacing. We opted for just the cleaning at this time. Joseph again came out and did a quick and clean job, no hassle. He was kind and easy to talk to. Will definitely call Chimney Brothers when we are ready for the resurfacing.

Our rampart-styled-design chimney had significant cracking all over from top to bottom. Inquired for a estimate to repair the cracking. Received a very competitive quote from C.B and approved the job. Joseph and his team member came promptly and explained the process, answered all our questions, then immediately got to work. They are extremely professional that after cement was filled in cracks they were able to reproduce the same exact lines and texture of chimney. They are highly efficient. The tuck pointing, repainting, and cap installation was all done on the same day. The outstanding quality is very evident from before and after pics. I will not hesitate one bit to contact them for all my chimney needs. Extremely satisfied!! Thank you C.B.

Chimney Brothers are fantastic! Joseph came out to our house for a consultation and about a week later was back to install a new gas system with ceramic logs that was 1,000 times better than the existing system. He was super professional, courteous and performed excellent, clean work. We are beyond thrilled with the results. Thank you guys!

Oak-hill fire country, wind and mixed chimneys

The thing that shapes a Calabasas chimney is fire risk. Almost all of it sits in a high or very high fire hazard severity zone, surrounded by oak woodland and dry brush, and the area went through the Woolsey Fire. A sound spark arrestor on the cap is what keeps an ember inside your flue instead of out on the hillside, and up here that is not a small detail.

Santa Ana winds drive that danger and also work on the chimney itself. A strong dry wind finds any gap in a cap, crown or chase cover, and it pushes embers and debris around the roofline. Tight caps and sound crowns keep both the fire risk and the weather in check.

The homes themselves are a mix. Older estates carry full masonry stacks that crack and open at the crown and joints over time, while newer hillside builds run factory-built fireboxes whose chase covers and caps rust and fail from the top down. Each needs its own kind of look.

From the ground you can check the cap and arrestor for rust or damage and the crown for cracks. If you see staining, a leaning crown or a corroded chase cover, have it looked at before fire season and before you burn.

    Good to know

    Calabasas questions

How quickly can you get out to Calabasas?

Usually the same week. We are in the west valley and the hills regularly, so a Calabasas visit fits in without much wait. Call and we will give you the next open day and a realistic window.

We are in a high fire zone. How important is the spark arrestor?

Very. Calabasas sits in fire country against the brush, and a spark arrestor on the cap keeps an ember from leaving your flue onto a dry hillside. If yours is missing or rusted through, we would fit one before fire season, no question.

My home is behind a gate on a long drive. Is access a problem?

No, we work gated estates all the time. We just arrange the gate code, the drive and the roof access before we come so the visit runs smoothly. Give us the details and we will handle it.

Is my fireplace masonry or prefab, and does it matter?

It matters for what we check. Masonry stacks need crown, mortar and liner work, while factory-built fireboxes need attention to the chase cover, cap and panels. We tell you which you have and what it needs, with photos.

How often should a Calabasas chimney be swept?

Once a year for most homes that burn wood, before the first cold night. Even light use builds creosote, and the yearly visit is also when we check the arrestor and cap that matter so much up here.

Will you make a mess in the house?

No. Everything gets covered before we start and the vacuum runs throughout. You should not be able to tell we were there.
