Our work runs right across Studio City, from the grid of streets near the studios up into the canyon lots that climb toward Mulholland Drive.
Studio City splits into two kinds of property, and the chimneys tell you which one you are standing on. Down on the flats between Ventura Boulevard and the river you get older single-story homes, a lot of them built in the 1940s and 1950s, laid out in tidy pockets like Colfax Meadows and the Silver Triangle. Their stacks are short, plain masonry, and most have been used steadily for decades.
Then the land tips upward. South of the boulevard the streets wind into the hills, the lots grow, and the houses run from mid-century post-and-beam to newer rebuilds tucked behind the trees. Those roofs are steeper and slower to get onto, which we plan around instead of hurrying.
The one thing nearly every Studio City property shares is tree cover. This is one of the greener corners of the Valley, and that shade is lovely to live under and hard on a flue, which is the part we spend the most time on here.
All of it is available across the neighborhood, and every job opens with an inspection.
Where everything else begins. You get photos and a plain read on the chimney's condition.
Crowns, mortar, flashing and flue liners. The usual work on stacks of this age.
Flue cleared of creosote, soot and whatever the trees dropped in, mess held in throughout.
Repointing and brickwork on the older masonry stacks down on the flats.
A capped, screened flue is what keeps leaves and animals out on a wooded lot.
Firebox, damper and hearth work on mid-century and remodeled fireplaces.

We hired Chimney Brothers to repair and rebuild two masonry fireplaces, including firebox and smoke chamber work, and we had a great experience overall. Joseph was involved from start to finish and was consistently on site, not just managing from a distance. He took the time to explain what was going on, answered questions clearly, and made sure the work was done right. It was reassuring to see him present and actively involved while the crew was working. The team showed up when they said they would, worked carefully, and didn’t rush through the job. When I had questions or wanted to look at specific areas, Joseph was patient and responsive, and made sure everything we discussed was addressed before wrapping up. The final result looks solid and well done, and the whole process felt transparent and professional. I appreciate the hands-on approach and would feel comfortable recommending Chimney Brothers to anyone who needs serious fireplace or chimney repair.Posted on Google![]()

I had the opportunity to work with joseph From Chimney Brothers on one of my rental properties. A previous tenant left the property in a bad condition. I called a couple different companies come out and inspect my fireplace, a few of them seemed fishy. I also checked The chimney brothers license and bond certificates to ensure they didn’t have any ongoing lawsuits or a bad rep with the CSLB. Joseph came and installed for me glass doors, custom gas logs and purged my smoke chamber. The job was done in a very quick and professional manner. They didn’t leave any debris and I was super impressed. I would definitely recommend them!!! If I could give 10 stars I would. Great experience, and I truly found a trustworthy company that I’m sure I’ll use in my next properties.Posted on Google![]()

Chimney services always comes with lots skepticism; it's not a usual services like plumbing, and it's not a necessity. Selecting CB is a right call. Joseph is pleasant to work with; he appears knowledgeable, considerate and delivered as promised. We took his advices and went through major works. The result and process is satisfactory. Highly recommend.Posted on Yelp![]()

Joseph was awesome. He came out to inspect the chimney on our first home and was on time, friendly and super knowledgeable. He walked us through everything, explained why the chimney needed a cleaning, and pointed out that the galvanized chase cover should be replaced to help prevent future water damage. As first-time homeowners, we really appreciated how informative and thorough he was. He took the time to answer all of our questions and explain everything in a way that was easy to understand. We left feeling much more confident and would definitely recommend Joseph and The Chimney Brothers!Posted on Yelp![]()

Needed to clean our chimney for our 1 story home which had been neglected for about 13 years. Joseph came and did a efficient evaluation and quote for not just a cleaning but also for resurfacing. We opted for just the cleaning at this time. Joseph again came out and did a quick and clean job, no hassle. He was kind and easy to talk to. Will definitely call Chimney Brothers when we are ready for the resurfacing.Posted on Yelp![]()

Our rampart-styled-design chimney had significant cracking all over from top to bottom. Inquired for a estimate to repair the cracking. Received a very competitive quote from C.B and approved the job. Joseph and his team member came promptly and explained the process, answered all our questions, then immediately got to work. They are extremely professional that after cement was filled in cracks they were able to reproduce the same exact lines and texture of chimney. They are highly efficient. The tuck pointing, repainting, and cap installation was all done on the same day. The outstanding quality is very evident from before and after pics. I will not hesitate one bit to contact them for all my chimney needs. Extremely satisfied!! Thank you C.B.Posted on Yelp![]()

Chimney Brothers are fantastic! Joseph came out to our house for a consultation and about a week later was back to install a new gas system with ceramic logs that was 1,000 times better than the existing system. He was super professional, courteous and performed excellent, clean work. We are beyond thrilled with the results. Thank you guys!
Studio City sits under more mature trees than most of the Valley. Oak, sycamore and pine lean over the canyon streets and shade the older lots on the flats, and every one of them sheds onto the roofs below. An open flue sitting under that canopy collects leaves, needles and small twigs all year, and by autumn there can be a real plug of debris packed down inside the top of the chimney.
That matters for two reasons. A flue choked with leaf litter does not draw properly, so smoke backs up into the room the first cold night you light a fire. And dry plant matter sitting on top of warm creosote is exactly the kind of thing you do not want near a flame.
The trees bring animals with them, too. Raccoons, birds and squirrels treat an uncapped flue as a ready-made hollow, and a nest wedged partway down is both a blockage and a fire risk. We pull more nests out of chimneys in this neighborhood than almost anywhere else we cover.
The fix is usually a good sweep followed by a properly screened cap. Up in the hills toward Fryman Canyon there is a fire-zone angle as well, where a sound spark arrestor keeps an ember from reaching dry brush.
Call for the quickest answer, or send the form higher up the page and we will come back to you the same day.
Usually the same week. We work out of Woodland Hills, so Studio City is a short run east along the boulevard or over the hill. Call and we will find you the first open slot.
More than people expect. Leaves, needles and twigs drop into an open flue and pack down over the year, which blocks the draw and can leave smoke coming back into the room. Dry debris sitting on old creosote is also a fire risk. A sweep clears it, and a screened cap keeps most of it from getting back in.
Often, yes. Raccoons, birds and squirrels use uncapped flues as nesting spots, and we see it a lot in this neighborhood. We clear the nest, sweep the flue and fit a proper cap so it does not happen again. If there are live animals, we will tell you straight whether it needs a wildlife specialist first.
Yes. The canyon streets sit near the fire zone, and a spark arrestor on the cap stops an ember drifting out of your flue into dry brush. It doubles as the screen that keeps leaves and animals out, so one cap handles both jobs.
An inspection. On a stack that old we want eyes on the crown, the mortar and the flue liner before anything else. You get photos of what we find and a straight answer on what actually needs doing.
No. Everything gets covered before a tool comes out, and the vacuum runs the whole visit. You should not be able to tell we were there.
We look at it, you see the photos, then you get a written price. Call, or fill in the form above.
